Stansted Park
Stansted Park has 1200 acres of forest and parkland set in the heart of the South Downs National Park. It offers arguably some of the best-managed woodlands in the South of England. The estate is a mix of softwood plantations, chestnut coppice and mixed broadleaved woods.
We have been working with Stansted Park for over 8 years, carry out all major forestry works, including softwood felling and thinning, ash removal and chestnut coppicing.
There is extensive public access across the estate and we work closely with the estate management to ensure the safety of the public and neighbouring residents.
Chestnut Coppicing
Chestnut coppicing 8 – 10 acres each winter felled in the traditional method using motor manual operation, maximising the produce available from the crop. Much of the chipwood from the operations is kept by the estate for use in its biomass boiler.
Ash Removal
Ash removal across the estate over the last 4 years. This large estate has acted quickly to address the problem of ash dieback and we have been engaged in a long-term programme of works to remove dead and dying trees safely and sensitively.
Douglas Fir Thinning
Thinning of 1500 tonnes of large Douglas fir from a mixed stand of fir and beech. This operation required particular skill and care to ensure the removal of these large trees did not damage remaining standing crop of beech.
